Beginning June 26, 2020

School of Music opera singers virtually perform Leonard Bernstein’s “Make Our Garden Grow” from “Candide.”
With their in-person performance for outgoing UMD President Wallace Loh canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, singers from the Maryland Opera Studio came together for a virtual farewell to thank him for ten years of support and patronage.

Greenbelt Arts Center seeks online event proposals.

By Greenbelt Arts Center

The Greenbelt Arts Center is looking to find ways to continue to make art in these unusual times. We are seeking submissions for productions that can be done during this time of social distancing.

Successful submissions will be able to be streamed, either live or pre-recorded and edited together and have no or minimal costs associated with production. We are particularly interested in pieces that address current events, including original works. Directors with works showcasing themes of social justice are strongly encouraged to submit. In your proposal, please include:
– A brief summary of the script, as well as a link to an electronic copy
– A plan for how it will be broadcast (Facebook Live, Zoom, etc)
– All associated costs with the production, including rights
-A timeline for production, including proposed performance dates

Please submit the above to Pamela Northrup, VP of Programs at programs@greenbeltartscenter.org with your contact information.

To the Artists and Patrons of the Hard Bargain Players,

It with a heavy heart that the Hard Bargain Players will be canceling our 2020 Season. The decision was made by both HBP and the Alice Ferguson Foundation, based on current restrictions state- and countywide. Though we are an outdoor venue, the safety of our volunteers and our audiences is our priority.

However, we would like to continue to provide an outlet for the arts by hosting virtual events (live or pre-recorded) which will feature members of the arts community!

What does that mean?

We want to host free, virtual workshops/tutorials, play readings of original works and classics, performances of original music, art galleries, and more!

If you are a member of the arts community and would like to host a free event, please contact me at hbpartisticdirector@gmail.com.
