Auditions for Kiss Me, Kate will be held at the Bowie Playhouse in Bowie, MD (16500 Whitemarsh Park Dr, Bowie, MD 20715) on Monday, February 23rd, and Tuesday, February 24th at 7 PM. Callbacks will be on Wednesday, February 25th. All roles are open! All ethnicities are encouraged to audition, and all ages 16 and over.

Please prepare 16-32 bars of a song that will showcase your voice in the style of the show. Accompanist will be provided. Bring a headshot and resume if you have one, as well as a list conflicts for March through the performance dates. Please dress appropriately for a dance/movement audition.

Rehearsals begin approximately March 9, and will be primarily Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 pm and Saturdays at 11:00 am until tech weeks when they will be daily. The show runs at the Bowie Playhouse May 29 – June 27, 2015 Fridays/Saturdays 8pm, Sundays 3pm.

Synopsis: Taking its inspiration from Shakespeare, Kiss Me, Kate recounts the backstage and onstage antics of two feuding romantic couples during a touring production of “The Taming of the Shrew.” Sparkling with 18 classic Cole Porter songs — including “Another Op’nin’, Another Show,” “Wunderbar,” “Always True to You in My Fashion,” “Too Darn Hot,” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” — Kiss Me, Kate epitomizes the American musical comedy at its irresistible best.

Roles – All roles are open to all ethnic diversities.

Director Michael V. Hartsfield will be casting:

8 men and 6 women plus ensemble are needed. Actors may audition bringing sheet music for the accompanist that will be provided or a CD. Sixteen bars of a Broadway style song that showcases vocal range will be requested. Little Shop of Horrors will open on April 24 and run through Sunday, May 17. Performances will run on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm with two Sunday matinees at 2pm on May 10th and May 17th.

Bowie Community Theatre (BCT) is holding auditions for Death in Them Thar Hills, an audience-­participation dinner theatre murder mystery to be performed on March 21, 2015 from 6pm­-10pm, at a local Prince George’s County location.

If you are interested in auditioning, please respond via email to secretary@bctheatre.com by February 13, 2015.

This murder mystery production is not one of our usual Wendy’s fundraising nights, so please be aware that costumes and makeup will be required and at least two rehearsals will be held.

BCT is an all-­volunteer, 501(c)(3) corporation, and no monetary compensation will be offered. Dinner will be provided for all participants.

NYC Director/Playwright Billie Colombaro and MD Songwriter/Playwright Betty Ladas will be holding auditions at the theater by appointment on January 31, from 11am to 5 pm, with callbacks on February 1 from 11 am to 5 pm.

In either situation, include any CONFLICTS you have for January 31 and February 1, and every effort will be made to accommodate you. Performances will be April 10 thru April 26 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and on Sundays at 2:00 pm.

Story of the play: Elderly woman is unwillingly dumped by her son in a nursing home. Stella volunteers there and tries to cheer her up but encounters a cantankerous, despondent Bessie. When Bessie discovers Stella’s secret desire to be a singer/songwriter, their friendship builds bonds and breaks down walls that change their lives and havoc ensues.

20 to 25 roles in a mixture of drama and comedy for young actors, male and female, from 7th grade up through age 20.

Performances are scheduled to run from March 27, 2015 to April 12, 2015.
