Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life on your stage! Troy, Gabriella, and the students of East High must deal with issues of first love, friends, and family while balancing their classes and extra curricular activities. It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recount their vacations, and look forward to the new year. Basketball team captain and resident jock Troy discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. They cause an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical, led by Ms. Darbus. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well.

Produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). Performances run weekends from Friday July 31, 2015 through Sunday August 23, 2015 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $23 for general admission. Admission for students (12 and under), active duty military and seniors (65 and over) is $18. For reservations, please call 301-617-9906 and press 2. Camp Encore presents Macbeth at the Greenbelt Arts Center, July 15-16

Camp Encore presents Macbeth at the Greenbelt Arts Center, July 15-16

Macbeth
Something wicked this way comes…

By William Shakespeare
Adapted and Directed by Kate Magill Robinson

Kate Magill Robinson, director of Camp Encore’s terrific productions of As You Like It in 2013 and Lotsa Lazzi! in 2014, returns this summer to lead teen actors through Shakespeare’s lyrical tale of murder and madness.

An ensemble-based script, created just for this camp, will use Shakespeare’s original language to tell the story of the noble warrior Macbeth and his ambitious wife, who tread a dark path and trade their souls to gain the crown of Scotland. Our production, performed in the Greenbelt Arts Center on July 15 and 16, will also use movement, music and stage combat to tell this story of magic, power and destiny.

PARENTAL ADVISORY: Due to subject matter and staged violence, this production may not be suitable for children under 10.

PERFORMANCES: Wednesday, July 15 at 1:00pm and Thursday, July 16 at 4:00pm

Performance Location: Greenbelt Arts Center

Free admission, but seating may be limited. To reserve seats, email katemagill3@gmail.com with your name, date requested and number of tickets. Seating may be available at the door.
