Cinderella, The Remix, written by Psalmayene 24, is a new take on a classic story. There’s no Prince Charming to chase, only the chance to live out the dream of becoming a beat-mixing queen in this girl-powered, music and dance update of the classic fairy tale. Cinderella lives in her stepmother’s basement, practicing her craft at the turntable, since girls aren’t allowed to DJ. But when the super-famous J Prince announces a contest to play his latest jam, Cinderella disguises herself as a boy to compete, and with some help from her Fairy Godmother Hoperah, she gets her chance to spin — at least until midnight.

Wonderworks, a theater for the very young program, involves stories, songs, movement and activities for toddlers through preschool-age children and adults to enjoy together.

Fine and Performing Arts Center, Black Box Theatre, Bowie State University.
