Synopsis

Mark and Bret’s little college town used to be a great place, but not anymore. Women have been attacked in the area, and Bret is terrified that her missing best friends are the latest victims. Mark is more worried that Bret is cheating on him. Bret’s creepy landlord is watching their relationship implode through a mirrow in her appartment, unbeknownst to them both. When a detective with a colorful past arrives in town to investigate the disappearances, this little whodunit twists and turns its way to a scary conclusion.

Description:

Spring Awakening is based on a controversial 1891 play by German playwright Frank Wedekind, which was banned for a time in Germany because of its frank portrayal of abortion, homosexuality, rape, child abuse and suicide.

The rock musical caused a sensation when it premiered on Broadway in 2006. Set in late 19th-century Germany, it tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality.

Alternative and folk-infused rock music capture and reflect the emotional essence of the timeless experience of coming of age.

The production is being co-directed by Tony Award-winning lighting designer and TDPS faculty member Brian MacDevitt in partnership with dance faculty members Sara Pearson and Patrik Widrig, a testament to the genre-blurring dynamic of the school.

SPRING AWAKENING is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI. 421 West 54th Street, New York, NY 10019; Phone: 212-541-4684; Fax: 212-396-4684; www.MTIShows.com.

He sells band instruments and uniforms to the good folk of River City, Iowa, explaining that the boys don’t need to touch their instruments, but will learn to play through his revolutionary “Think System.” However, the prim librarian and piano teacher, Marian Paroo, sees through his ruse. But when Professor Hill helps her younger brother Winthrop overcome his shyness due to his lisp, Marian begins to fall for him. Harold falls for Marian as well, and risks arrest by the town’s authorities to win her.
