Dior Ashley Brown and The dAb Band come to Joe’s Movement Emporium October 16th – 20th for a 5-day residency where they will be creating a tribute to women in the performing arts using interactive music components from spoken word, game shows, and live performance. Through an acknowledgement of the female voice, both past and present, Brown seeks to express the creative struggle of black female performing artists, while highlighting their significant contributions to creative change and influence. Expect everything from Nina Simone to Lil Kim.

NextNOW Fest is an arts festival for Terps, by Terps. Co-curated with student groups and on-campus departments, this artistic playground amplifies the voices of intriguing, inventive performing and visual artists from around campus and the country.

Often surprising, sometimes unconventional and always exciting, NextNOW Fest creates an unexpected festival experience at the creative hub of the performing arts at the University of Maryland.

Theatre events include: Big 10 New Play Reading: Twilight Bowl, Alumni Play Commissions and James Allister Sprang

Remember the Carol Burnett Show? All those great skits performed by Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Lyle Waggoner, Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence? Now you can see them performed by our Laurel Mill Playhouse Troupe! Remember how you would wait for the times they would crack each other up? Well the LMP cast has had that happen also! Only 90 minutes with one intermission. Take a break and go back to the old days with LMP! Part of the proceeds from this show will be used to subsidize theater tickets for residents of Selbourne House, a Senior Citizen Apartment complex right across the street from Laurel Mill Playhouse in memory of David McCrary.

Performances run weekends from Friday July 7, 2017 through Sunday July 16, 2017 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission. Admission for students (12 and under), active duty military and seniors (65 and over) is $15. Tickets can be purchased by clicking the link below.
