The Unexpected Guest at Greenbelt Arts Center, June 21-23

Thunderous Productions presents:

The Unexpected Guest

by Agatha Christie
June 21 – 23, Friday & Saturday at 8:00, Saturday and Sunday 2:00

On a foggy night, Michael Starkwedder enters the home of the Warwicks through a window in the study. He finds the dead body of Richard Warwick, and sees Warwick’s wife, Laura, holding a gun that supposedly killed him. Despite the murder being obvious, and overwhelming evidence pointing towards it, Starkwedder does not believe she killed him, and she soon tells him she’s innocent. But there are other suspects as well – Warwick’s mother, his simple half-brother, the sinister Angell or the apparantly goody-goody Miss Bennett. The real murderer could be anyone.

Ticket prices: $17 General Admission, $14 Students/Seniors/Military, $12 Child (under 12)

Auditions for Twentieth Century with PGLT, June 17-18

“Twentieth Century” Auditions

Twentieth Century by Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur (based on a play by Charles Bruce Milholland in a new adaptation by Ken Ludwig) will be PGLT’s first production of the 2013-14 season.

Larger than life theater producer Oscar Jaffe finds that the movie star whom he promoted for Broadway stardom years earlier is on board his train as he travels from Chicago to New York City. He tries to lure her away from Hollywood (and her new love interest) to save his floundering career. Other passengers on the train provide multiple comic subplots for a screwball comedy set in the 1930’s.

Auditions for “Twentieth Century” will be held Monday, June 17 and Tuesday, June 18 beginning at 7:30. Auditions and rehearsals are held at the New Carrollton Municipal Center, 6016 Princess Garden Parkway, New Carrollton, MD (directions). The production will run for nine performances from Friday August 30 through Sunday September 15 at the Bowie Playhouse.
