Experimental Performance Series at the Clarice, Oct 25

UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies presents:
Experimental Performance Series #1
Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2pm and 7:30pm

Venue: Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

The Experimental Performance Series presents a collection of self-produced works from undergraduate and graduate students in theatre and dance. This performance will feature three original works:

Caminhando e Canatando, by Beatriz Moreira Leite, is about a group of friends finding the power in community and art as an oppressive “big brother” like force attempts to restrict and censor their creative freedom.

bye I’m disconnecting and hard work doesn’t work: jumping through hoops, are two sections of a larger dance work by Jamie Chen in collaboration with dancers. The first, bye I’m disconnecting is about the unacceptable and the lingering of goodbyes. The second, hard work doesn’t work: jumping through hoops, investigates cultural narratives around work and value.

Lost in the World, choreographed by Lottie Owen, is a dance piece that moves through six sections, blending styles and emotions to explore themes of growth, nostalgia, and self-discovery. Through a wide range of music, it reflects the transition from childhood to adulthood, the pull between connection and isolation, and the search for meaning in an ever-changing world. Created as a culmination of Lottie’s college experience, the piece aims to resonate with fellow students by capturing the beauty and uncertainty of growing up.
