Audition Workshop by 2nd Star at All Saints Lutheran Church, June 14 at 2pm

FREE Audition Workshop
Saturday June 14, 2014 at 2pm

2nd Star Productions

In advance of auditions for our upcoming production of Children of Eden, 2nd Star will be holding a free audition workshop on Saturday, June 14th. The workshop will go from 2 to 4 p.m. and will be at All Saints Lutheran Church, address 16510 Mt Oak Rd, Bowie, MD 20716. During the first section of the workshop, participants will learn basics of singing auditions including vocal and performance techniques. The second part of the workshop will cover dance and movement for musical theater auditions. Participants will learn some basic dance steps and a short routine, and discuss which elements of the routine and movement are most important during a dance audition.

Come prepared to move and, if possible, bring a 32 bar section of audition music to practice. Note that this workshop is not a requirement for Children of Eden auditions nor is it limited to only people who intend to audition for the show. It is a more general audition preparation workshop, but would also be good practice for those coming out for Children of Eden. Please e-mail 2ndStarBowie@gmail.com with any questions.

A black sergeant cries out in the night, “They still hate you,” then is shot twice and falls dead. Set in 1944 at Fort Neal, a segregated army camp in Louisiana, Charles Fuller’s forceful drama – which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1982 – tracks the investigation of this murder. “A Soldier’s Play” is more than a detective story: it is a tough, incisive exploration of racial tensions and ambiguities among blacks, and between blacks and whites that gives no easy answers, and assigns no simple blame.

All tickets for “A Soldier’s Play” are $15.00

Funny Money by 2nd Star Productions at the Bowie Playhouse, Jan 31 – Feb 16

Comedy by Ray Cooney
Directed by Fred Nelson

2nd Star Productions at the Bowie Playhouse

January 31 – February 16, 2014

Henry, a mild mannered British CPA, accidentally picks up a briefcase full of someone else’s ill-gotten gains. He decides to keep it and fly to Barcelona to start a new life, but his wife has other plans, and before they can leave, there’s an unexpected knock at the door. The circumstances that prevent Henry from working his way out of this problem are the kinds that only a master of farce like Britain’s Ray Cooney (author of Run for Your Wife and It Runs in the Family) could create. You’ll love this hilarious comedy of errors.
