This highly acclaimed musical develops the ancient and distinguished game of chess into a metaphor for romantic rivalries and East-West political intrigue. The principal pawns form a love triangle: the loutish American Grandmaster, the earnest Russian champion, and the Hungarian-American female chess second, who arrives at the international championships with the American but falls for the Russian. From Tyrol to Thailand the players, lovers, politicians, CIA and KGB make their moves to the pulse of this monumental rock score. Several numbers, including “One Night in Bangkok” and “I Know Him So Well”, are international hits.

Tickets for shows at Bowie Playhouse are $22.00 for General Admission, $19.00 for seniors (60 and over) and full time students, and $12 for Children 11 and under. Buy tickets here.

We welcome non-traditional casting – all roles are open to all races and ethnic diversities!

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays beginning October 23, with the exception of January 7 – 25 for which all will be called nearly every night of the week. Singin’ in the Rain has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item but, behind the scenes, things aren’t always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her. Filled with every memorable moment from the film and a downpour of unforgettable songs, Singin’ in the Rain is a guaranteed hit!

AUDITION/CALLBACK INFO:
Auditions are Monday, June 18th, and Tuesday, June 19th at 7 PM at the Bowie Playhouse in Bowie, MD (16500 Whitemarsh Park Dr, Bowie, MD). Callbacks will be Wednesday, June 20th at 7 PM (by invitation only.)

Those who wish to audition may attend either the Monday or Tuesday dates. Please keep Wednesday night clear in case you are called back. If you are needed for callbacks, you will be notified by phone and/or email.
