Evil Never Dies:

He was called Evil-Eyed Emil. When he looked at people with his infamous right eye, so the story went, bad things invariably happened. Townspeople cringed and covered their faces as Emil came near, not daring to look directly into his ominous orb.

And, as he was being driven out of Reaper Junction on Halloween night exactly 100 years ago, Emil vowed to return one day to wreak his vengeance on the mob and its progeny for the way he had been so rudely tossed out.

​That cryptic curse was all but forgotten by today’s generation of Reapers who laughed at such nonsense. But, the laughter has stopped. For last night, shockingly and unexpectedly, a local resident staggered into the town square and announced that Emil had been sighted in the woods and, true to his century-old proclamation, someone had been the victim of Emil’s anger.

The deceased was Grimsby Graves, the patriarch of a family whose ancestors had helped found Reaper Junction in 1770. ​The Graves’ seemed to have had their fingers in every pie that was ever baked in Reaper Junction. The history books say that it was, in fact, the Graves brothers who had led the torch-lit mob that oversaw Emil’s abrupt exit into the stormy night.

So, how then can justice be done? How can someone who is already dead be brought to trial? And, can the court truly find a jury of his peers? Or, will the explanation be less scintillating and more sinister?

Quicker Than The Eye

He was a prestidigitator beyond compare. The Amazing Roberto Clappini built a reputation for performing card tricks that could deceive even the most well-trained eye. His latest trick was proclaimed to be one that would take the art of sleight of hand to a new level. The trick was always performed with cards manufactured by Svengesi’s Strong Suits, the Bulgarian company that is known worldwide for its outstanding product. Clappini swore by the cards’ quality and refused to consider using any other brand. Now, though, Svengesi’s renown has taken a hit – struck by the same blow that killed Clappini after last night’s performance at Finger Lake. But, authorities have a clue about the identity of the murderer, or to be more accurate, a handful of clues. For before he died, Clappini had the strength and wherewithal to pull several cards from the deck and attempt to tell authorities what happened. It would take skill and investigative expertise to identify the perpetrator of the crime – and to deal out a hand that could only be described as a “royal flush.”

The Bowie Community Theatre announces auditions for:

A Tuna Christmas

Bowie Community Theatre announces auditions for “A Tuna Christmas” by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard. Auditions will be held on Monday, August 28, and Tuesday, August 29, from 7:00pm – 9:30pm at the Kenhill Center, 2614 Kenhill Dr. in Bowie MD. Call-backs, if needed, will be held Thursday, August 31.

The director will cast 2 to 6 men or women able to play characters of various ages and sexes. There are 22 characters in the play. It was originally written and played by 2 men. Actors are required to take on various personalities with quick costume changes as they exit and come back on stage. The director will determine the number of actors cast at auditions.

Performances are scheduled to run November 3-19, 2017.

It’s Christmas in Tuna, the third smallest town in Texas, where the Lion’s Club is too liberal and Patsy Cline never dies! Radio station OKKK news personalities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie report on various Yuletide activities. It’s 24 hours before Christmas and the delightfully eccentric characters of Tuna attempt to cope with seasonal traumas such as the disaster prone little theatre production of A Christmas Carol, and a yard-decorating contest being sabotaged by a mysterious Christmas phantom.

Auditioners will be asked to do cold readings from the script. Please bring any conflicts you have for September through November, resume, and picture, if available. The Plot Leading Up to Murder in Hulas and Homicide:

She was known as the Hula Honcho. Winnie Waheli was the head judge at the annual hula contest on Kikiwai Beach. Once regarded as the most-accomplished dancer in all of Hawaii, Winnie’s career abruptly ended two decades ago when one of her more strenuous moves produced a recurring medical problem that prevented her from ever competing again professionally.
That’s when she was hired by the Kikiwai Queen Hotel to organize and orchestrate the hula event. Each year, Winnie made a point of meeting the competitors and talking to the press, all the while ensuring that she was the center of attention.
Tonight would have been the night that Winnie and this year’s hula extravaganza would once again make headlines. But all is not well in paradise, for someone must have taken exception to Winnie’s overbearing antics. This morning, her lifeless body was found on the very beach where she had achieved both fame and fortune, the seeming victim of foul play.
Who would dare end the career of the maven of movement? Could someone have plotted the death of the darling of divatude? Or, was this just the result of a temper tantrum by a close associate? It would take a unique perspective and expert investigative skills to identify the guilty party.

Will Bridget be able to handle all the excitement? Will her Nana get arrested – or worse! – evicted?
