The Odd Couple by the Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse, Mar 28-Apr 13

The Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse presents:
The Odd Couple
by Neil Simon
directed by Randy Barth

Performance Dates: March 28 – April 13, 2025
Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM, Sunday matinees at 2PM

Location: Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse

Neil Simon’s classic comedy opens as a group of the guys are in the midst of their weekly poker game in the apartment of divorced sportswriter, Oscar Madison. And if the mess is any indication, it’s no wonder that his wife left him. The apartment is smoke- filled, and the only thing Oscar can offer his guests is warm Coke and moldy sandwiches. The last to arrive is Felix Ungar, who has just been thrown out by his wife. Felix is depressed, leading Oscar to invite Felix to be his roommate. However, as Felix takes on the domestic mantle in the apartment and proves just how difficult he is to live with, Oscar is driven to the edge of madness. The drama is both hilarious and poignant as misadventures multiply and tensions boil over between the clean freak and the slob.

Tickets: $25/Adults, $20/Seniors/Students, click here.

Drama critic Mortimer Brewster’s engagement announcement is upended when he discovers a corpse in his elderly aunts’ window seat. Mortimer rushes to tell Abby and Martha before they stumble upon the body themselves, only to learn that the two old women aren’t just aware of the dead man in their parlor, they killed him! Between his aunts’ penchant for poisoning wine, a brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt, and another brother using plastic surgery to hide from the police—not to mention Mortimer’s own hesitancy about marriage—it’ll be a miracle if Mortimer makes it to his wedding. Arsenic and Old Lace is a classic black comedy about the only thing more deadly than poison: family.

Shadow Hour is an exciting courtroom drama for the stage. A jury is given the task of assigning guilt or innocence to a United States Senator accused of sexual assault. As the jury debates the testimony, flashbacks to the trial show how the members of the panel interpret the evidence through their own bias. Flashbacks to the actual events of the “crime” show how the witnesses themselves also add bias to the evidence. The truth is lost in shadows.
