Prokofiev’s beloved symphonic fairy tale returns to NOI+F! The young Peter goes out into the forest–against his grandfather’s advice. Join Peter as he makes friends with whimsical forest creatures and faces a ferocious gray wolf!

The 2PM presentation will be performed in English and will include ASL interpretation. The 4PM performance will be performed in Spanish.

¡El amado cuento de hadas sinfónico del compositor Sergei Prokofiev viene al Centro de las Artes The Clarice! El joven Pedro sale al bosque a pesar que su abuelo se lo prohibió. En el bosque hace amigos con criaturas fantásticas y se enfrenta al temido lobo.

La presentación de las 2PM se realizará en inglés e incluirá interpretación de ASL. La presentación de las 4PM se realizará en Español.

University Orchestra

Venture into the “haunted” corridors of the Paris Opera House as the University Orchestra brings one of the most iconic musicals to the concert hall for their final performance of the year. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera tells the tale of a young opera star and the mysterious masked figure who becomes obsessed with her. The longest-running show on Broadway, the musical is presented here by full orchestra and narration.

This program has something for everyone, including orchestral masterworks, opera and musical theatre.

Led by students of the graduate conducting studio, UOrch (formerly UMRO) is a unique orchestra of musicians from across campus that performs four full concerts each season. Repertoire varies based on instrumentation and consists of works for both chamber and full orchestra.

First-year Maryland Opera Studio students demonstrate their talent in this showcase featuring scenes from a wide operatic repertory. To keep the focus on beautiful, pure sounds and vivid acting, the performance is accompanied only by piano and minimal props. Opera Scene Study Part 2 will take place on May 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The Maryland Opera Studio is dedicated to the future of opera. Preparing the next generation of great singers and offering performances ranging from classic repertoire to provocative new works, it is building contemporary audiences for opera and advancing the art form to sustain those audiences.
