Circa 1929 in Central Virginia, where the ladies of the Strasburg Hotel offer more than a good night’s rest — They provide sanctuary to lost souls. But when the wife of a policeman seeks refuge from her husband, the hotel proves anything but idyllic. From critically-acclaimed playwright Carol Lee Campbell (The Goddess Diaries) comes a new story that blends history with a touch of magic in a genre-defying drama about our dalliances with eternity.

Margot Greenlee’s Medicine by the Book

Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at 7:00pm

Location: Joe’s Movement Emporium

With beauty and humor, Margot Greenlee’s Medicine by the Book explores the relationship between movement, imagination and the body’s inherent capacity to heal. Inspired by her experiences as a resident choreographer in healthcare settings across the greater DC region, the work combines the excitement of performance with the satisfaction of meaningful discussion and creative involvement. Weaving together compelling scenes from literature and graphic novels with the daily frustrations and long-range aspirations of healthcare professionals, Medicine by the Book reveals the power of our creative minds to heal our ailing bodies. Designed as a focal point for discourse and creativity, Medicine combines theater, storytelling and movement followed by a facilitated audience-and-cast ‘lab’ session to immediately propel the work further. This preview performance will feature faculty members from University of Maryland’s School of Public Health.

EarlOrrin Productions is proud to have developed a historical rendition of Richard O’Brian’s Rocky Horror Show, featuring an all African-American shadow cast, entitled, “Chocolate Covered Rocky Horror!” This sexy comedy is guaranteed to leave you speechless and wanting more. Our production will feature pantomimed performances and crowd engagement—placing audiences in the comedic experience that is Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s Castle.

The production company has decided to evoke the age old tradition of a shadow cast for this highly provocative yet entertaining production. The cast will dramatically mime the film as it plays on a large screen and will strongly encourage the audience to sing along with the film bringing another dimension to the shadow cast.

It is my general purpose as an African- American owned Production firm to educate, cultivate, and enhance the knowledge of Americans and to uplift our community as a whole. EarlOrrin Productions, is enriched with a dedicated team to explore and peer outside the societal norms, enhancing their skill set to be one of the generation’s innovative leaders in the artistic humanities.
