Performances: February 17 – March 12, 2017

Description: Inspired by Neil Simon’s early career experience as a junior writer for Your Show of Shows, the play focuses on Sid Caesar-like Max Prince, the star of a weekly comedy-variety show circa 1953, and his staff, including Simon’s alter-ego Lucas Brinkman, who maintains a running commentary on the writing, fighting, and wacky antics which take place in the writer’s room.

Audition will consist of telling a joke and then be prepared to read from the script. Note: The play is dialogue driven and characters are quick witted. Expectation is actors will be off book by end of January. If you have questions prior to the audition please contact John D’Amato at john_damato@hotmail.com

No roles are precast and roles open to all ethnicities and could cast women for a couple of the men’s roles. Bring resume and headshot and list of conflicts from December 12, 2016 through March 12, 2017. Further questions can also be directed to maureencrogers@gmail. com or 301-452-2557.

Friday December 2, 2016 through Sunday December 18, 2016

Location: Laurel Mill Playhouse

All Claire Finley wants is the perfect Christmas. She’s hired the celebrated gourmet chef Vilma Hasenpfeffer to prepare her famous Hasenpfeffer Hollandaise Sauce for her dinner guests, the new vicar and his very pregnant wife, Mary. Unfortunately, however, the chef is late, the guests are early and there are burglars loose in the neighborhood. To top it all off, Claire’s father has been hit on the head (with the creche, no less!) and thinks he’s the leading man in all of the West End theatre productions of the last 30 years! With the help of her quirky brother George, Claire tries to keep everything together as it continues to unravel in this sidesplitting British farce reminiscent of Arsenic and Old Lace. But once the mayhem dies down and the mixed-up identities unscramble, the true Christmas spirit shines bright in a surprise ending, which involves transformation, forgiveness, and a beautiful new beginning.

Produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service. Performances run weekends from Friday December 2, 2016 through Sunday December 18, 2016 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission. Ranging over a wide variety of topics and situations there is no story line as such but, instead, a clever mosaic of telling observations and brightly funny events, all dealing with matters of particular moment to today’s young people. In one sketch a visiting Soviet comedian, through a long-suffering interpreter, amuses himself but not his audience with stale jokes and turgid punch lines long out of date in America; in another two men and a woman, who find themselves in bed together, decide to get acquainted; while in still another a couple meeting at a party engage in a long conversation which runs backwards, ending with their introduction. In these, as in the other sketches, the keynote is freshness and wit, blending into a lighthearted, highly theatrical and fast-paced program which will bring pleasure to both sides of the footlights.

Ten delightfully zany and irreverent short sketches created by one of our theatre’s most accomplished writers. Originally presented by the Yale Cabaret Theatre, and then produced by The American Place Theatre in New York City, the sketches range widely in subject and style, but combine into a continually hilarious and brilliantly imaginative program.

Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service. Performances run weekends from Friday November 18, 2016 through Sunday November 20, 2016 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission. All of the wit and romance of Jane Austen’s classic 1813 novel come to life in this play. Finding a husband is hardly Elizabeth Bennet’s most urgent priority. But with four sisters, an overzealous match-making mother, and a string of unsuitable suitors, it’s difficult to escape the subject. When the independent-minded Elizabeth meets the handsome but enigmatic Mr. Darcy, she is determined not to let her feelings triumph over her own good sense — but the truth turns out to be slipperier than it seems. In a society where subtle snubs and deceit proliferate, is it possible for Elizabeth and Darcy to look beyond his pride and her prejudice, and to make the best match of all?
