A Shot in the Dark Auditions

Auditions on September 8 & 9 for A Shot in the Dark
Adapted by Harry Kurnitz; From L’Idiote by Marcel Achard
Directed by Keith Brown

A PGLT Production: January 9 to 24, 2015 at the Bowie Playhouse

Location: Prince George’s Little Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse

A good hearted, guileless child of nature is hauled before the magistrate on a charge of murder, having been found unconscious, nude, and clutching a gun, with her lover dead beside her. What is most shocking to the magistrate is the complete frankness with which she describes her life as a parlor maid and her affairs with both the dead chauffeur and her aristocratic employer. She is so ingenious that the magistrate, at the risk of his juridical neck, decides that she could not have committed the murder. “A bubbling, saucy comedy… A light, tasty soufflé” ~ N.Y. Times.

Description: A tribute to the great English farces, this hilarious romp takes audiences on a ride which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club. Filled with mistaken identities, slamming doors, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it’s a furiously-paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers’ classics.
