Auditions for Winnie-the-Pooh will be held at the Greenbelt Arts Center Monday and Tuesday, September 28th and 29th at 6:30pm, with callbacks Thursday, October 1st, if necessary.

Dramatized by le Clanche du Rand from the stories of A. A. Milne. Music by Allan J. Friedman, Lyrics by A. A. Milne and Kristin Sergel with additional lyrics by le Clanché du Rand.
Director: Jon Gardner, Producer: Malca Giblin, Music Director: Susan Breon, Choreographer: Samantha Fitschen.

Location: Greenbelt Arts Center

Bring a headshot and theatrical resume if you have one, or be prepared to list previous acting, singing and dancing experience. Bring a complete list of conflicts for October 25 to December 20. We will try to accommodate rehearsal conflicts, but performance conflicts will not be allowed for those with speaking parts.

Rehearsals will begin October 26th and will be 3 times per week until tech week, Monday through Thursday evenings with the final schedule depending on conflicts. There is also the possibility of some Saturday afternoon rehearsals. Performances will be afternoon matinees only on Saturdays and Sundays from December 5 to 20.

Pooh, Piglet, Rabbit, Kanga and Eeyore each have solo songs. Owl, Christopher Robin and Roo sing one solo line each in the finale. Please prepare a short song (up to 32 bars) in the style of musical theater, a folk song or a nursery rhyme. Bring sheet music for the piano accompanist or sing a capella; we will not use backing tracks in the auditions. Auditions will include movement or dance, so please dress appropriately; do not wear jeans and bring dance sneakers or jazz shoes if possible. There will be readings from the script. The acting style is that each character will be played authentically without comment or “cuteness.”

All roles are unpaid and non-union. Actors who are offered parts will agree to become a member of the Greenbelt Arts Center for $20 (individual) or $40 (family), which includes one or two free tickets, respectively.

The Story: The beloved characters of the Hundred Acre Woods are brought to life in this small cast musical dramatization of A. A. Milne’s stories. Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet try to trap a Heffalump, search for Eeyore’s tail and scheme with Rabbit to get rid of Kanga, the new animal in the woods.

Cast: We expect to cast a combination of adults, teens and children; all ages are encouraged to audition. We welcome a diverse cast and all roles are open to all ethnicities. Except as noted on the website, most of the roles are open to any age and any gender.
