The Weekday Players are proud to present “This is Our Youth” by Kenneth Lonergan for this fall.

A hit off-Broadway in 1996 and in a a Broadway revival in 2014, This is Our Youth follows three young adults in the Upper West Side of Manhattan over the course of one evening. Dennis Ziegler’s friend Warren Straub has been kicked out of his house, and has also stolen $15,000 from his father. Dennis and another friend, Jessica, have their own agendas and plans for the money, which ultimately ties the characters together as the play explores themes of materialism, adolescence, and maturity.

The Weekday Players are excited to present this timely show, as organized, acted, and produced by University of Maryland students. The show is free to the general public.

This November 13, 14, 20 & 21, Annie will grace the stage of Eleanor Roosevelt High School! This inspiring tale of an optimistic orphan girl is a classic beloved by all. It tells the extraordinary story of a little orphan who spends ends up in the lap of luxury with Depression-era billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Unlike most of the other children at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage, spunky Annie believes that her parents are still alive and will one day return to claim her. So when Mr. Warbucks offers to adopt her, she asks the most powerful man in America to help find her real mom and dad instead, and he agrees. Warbucks’ whopping reward for Annie’s parents attracts the attention of con artists Rooster, Lily and the wicked Miss Hannigan, who hatch a plot to kidnap Annie and take the $50,000 reward. All of us at ERHS Drama sincerely look forward to giving you a show you’ll enjoy!

Bishop McNamara High School Fine Arts Department and theTheatre Program presents Cinderella with music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and based on the book by Oscar Hammerstein II. The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale is reborn with the Rodgers & Hammerstein hallmarks of originality, charm and elegance. This fully staged musical includes classic songs such as The Sweetest Sounds, Impossible and Ten Minutes Ago. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, the hearts of children and adults alike still soar when the slipper fits.

Public performances will take place on Friday & Saturday: Nov. 13, 14, 20, & 21 at 7:30 pm, and November 15 & 22 at 2:00 pm.

When Melvin the monster makes a birthday wish, the Division for Monster Screams grants his wish, provided he passes a test. Melvin sets off on a quest to learn and study, teaching kids about different learning styles and giving them confidence to tap into their own “monster intelligence.”

Open Casting Call For Student Film, “Life of the Party”

Location: Greenbelt Public Library, 11 Crescent Road, Greenbelt MD

Lead and supporting roles are available for an upcoming Towson University student short film filming November 12-16 in Bowie, Maryland. Life of the Party follows an introvert in his mid-20’s as he attends a party and attempts to navigate various social conventions while pair of on-screen characters (seen only by the audience) follow him around and function as a personification of his inner thoughts.

Auditions are open to union and non-union actors. Professional actors, please come with headshots and resumes. A scene from the film will be provided and can be sent in advance upon request. If you are a non-actor and/or have never acted before, feel free to come with your talent. This is a non-paying student film, but we offer can offer you a credit, a copy of the film, hot meals, and transportation compensation.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, November 7th, 3-5 pm, @ Greenbelt Public Library. Shooting will be on November 14, with possible additional shooting between November 12 & 16, depending on weather.
