A winner of the Tony “Triple Crown” for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book, Avenue Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. The laugh-out-loud musical tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. He soon discovers that, although the residents seem nice, it’s clear that this is not your ordinary neighborhood. Together, Princeton and his new-found friends struggle to find jobs, dates and their ever-elusive purpose in life. Filled with gut-busting humor and a delightfully catchy score, not to mention puppets, Avenue Q is a truly unique show that has quickly become a favorite for audiences everywhere. Although the show addresses humorous adult issues, it is similar to a beloved children’s show; a place where puppets are friends, Monsters are good, and life lessons are learned. ~ MTI

Avenue Q contains adult content and language and is not recommended for children.

This musical is really about a man finding himself and his place in the world far later in life than maybe he had planned to. I really want this production to be a celebration of that journey to self-acceptance and self-actualization — no matter what time of our lives we’re at, we deserve to feel like we belong.

Josh is as brave as a lion, Harriet is as wise as an owl, and Miranda is always as good as gold – or so they think, until they fall down an abandoned mineshaft into a realm beneath the world we know. The trio’s adventure in the fabled Underworld forces them to confront their surface notions, as they delve toward a deeper understanding of courage, wisdom, and goodness. But in a realm where dragons lurk and gnomes are real, can three lost school kids break a spell of ignorance and rescue Sophia, the Underworld’s rightful queen?

Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards and two Obie Awards, Urinetown is a hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, environmental collapse, privatization of natural resources, bureaucracy, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself! Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America’s greatest art forms.

In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he’s had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!

Tickets for shows at Bowie Playhouse are $25.00 for General Admission, $22.00 for seniors (60 and over), military and full time students, and $15 for Children 11 and under. Buy tickets here.

The Sinatra Experience
Starring Dave Halston

Location: Bowie Center for the Performing Arts.

From Las Vegas to Maryland – The Sinatra Experience – a brilliant tribute starring Dave Halston. Don’t miss this unforgettable evening of music, laughter, and a zesty lineup of Frank Sinatra’s most popular songs. This show is authentic – not an impersonation. Performing with the original music arrangements, Halston and his world-class band bring the Sinatra sound and swagger to the stage with a swanky Vegas vibe.

Dave’s performance is so outstanding, he was chosen by Barbara Sinatra, Frank’s widow, to perform for her birthday party. She called his performance “WONDERFUL!”
