MAD Improv Workshop

Location: Goddard Space Flight Center’s MAD Theater.

MAD will hold an Improvisation Workshop on Tuesday, July 15 from 5:30 to 6:30 in the Building 3 auditorium. The workshop will be taught by Erin Smith. Erin has been improvising with Washington Improv Theater since 2015. The workshop will include instruction, improv games, short-form and long-form improv scenes. The workshop is geared toward having fun and building skills, including communication tools and techniques that are as useful in real life as they are on stage. Improvisers of all experience levels are invited to participate. The workshop is open to MAD members and guest participants. When “The Playhouse,” a rustic New England summer theatre, schedules a repertory season of Dracula, Hamlet and Charley’s Aunt, comic mayhem ensues. We follow the well-intentioned but over-matched company from outrageous auditions to ego-driven rehearsals through opening nights gone disastrously awry to the elation of a great play well told and the comic and nostalgic season close.

Ticket prices are as follows:
Adults: $20, Children 18 and under, Seniors 65 and over, and active duty military: $15

MAD’s 2025 Summer Children’s Program:
The Garden Show

The program is open to children ages 5 to 12, and meets Wednesdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm, July 2 through August 6. There will be a performance on Sunday, August 10. All children who come to the first rehearsal are guaranteed a role. Sign up by clicking here before the first rehearsal.

The Garden Show is an educational musical recommended for children in elementary school. While on their way to a wedding on Planet Chlorophyll, aliens run out of fuel and are forced to land on Earth. They must explore a garden to find an alternative fuel source if they want to get home, but they’ll need plenty of help to send them on their way!

All children who come out to the first rehearsal are guaranteed a role. Rehearsals will take place in the Building 3 Auditorium on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm, July 2nd to August 6th with a performance date of August 10th. The classic children’s work Peter and the Wolf has thrilled audiences for almost 90 years. Whether it’s your first journey into the forest or you’re bringing your whole family on the tale, this is a show for everyone! For this Sunday fairytale matinee. the National Orchestral Institute + Festival invites curious listeners to come close and witness each of Prokofiev’s timeless characters leap to instrumental life: Peter on the strings, cat as clarinet, the wobbly oboe of a duck and the growling menace of the wolf as french horns. Presented in The Clarice’s Grand Pavilion, with ample seating for grown-ups and space on the stairs for children, NOI+F’s rendition of Peter and the Wolf is sure to gift young ears with the joy of music for a lifetime. Kids and parents are invited to join us early for specially themed youth activities, including visual art workshops and mask making.

The 2PM presentation will include ASL interpretation.
