Summer is for Shakespeare!
Program for 6th-12th graders

Location: Laurel Mill Playhouse

Come along and join us we explore the world of Shakespeare. Activities will include vocal exercises for projection/vowel pronunciation, working on the language and poetry, understanding the text and scenes, working on acting/characterization and bringing the scenes from Shakespeare to life.

Participants will present a series of scenes wearing Shakespearean costuming, as an end of session show.

This camp will be for students entering 6th-12th grades.

Dates July 7th- 18th, 9:15am-1:00pm, M-F

Performance Friday July 18th at 7pm

Performances run weekends from Friday May 30, 2014 through Sunday June 15, 2014 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Sunday matinee performances on June 1, June 8 and June 15. All matinees begin at 2:00 PM.

Description: One of Shakespeare’s earliest comedies. The Taming of the Shrew tells the story of how Petruchio, the money-grubbing wife hunter, transforms the aggressive and bad-tempered Katherine Minola into an obedient, honey-tongued trophy wife. This production features teens from 7th to 12th grade.

Darkness pervades the Rude Mechanicals’ production of the fabled Scottish Play. Actors must be comfortable seeing in the dark.
