Improv Workshop at MAD, Jul 15

MAD Improv Workshop

Location: Goddard Space Flight Center’s MAD Theater.

MAD will hold an Improvisation Workshop on Tuesday, July 15 from 5:30 to 6:30 in the Building 3 auditorium. The workshop will be taught by Erin Smith. Erin has been improvising with Washington Improv Theater since 2015. The workshop will include instruction, improv games, short-form and long-form improv scenes. The workshop is geared toward having fun and building skills, including communication tools and techniques that are as useful in real life as they are on stage. Improvisers of all experience levels are invited to participate. The workshop is open to MAD members and guest participants. First-year Maryland Opera Studio students demonstrate their talent in this showcase featuring scenes from a wide operatic repertory. To keep the focus on beautiful, pure sounds and vivid acting, the performance is accompanied only by piano and minimal props.

The Maryland Opera Studio is dedicated to the future of opera. Preparing the next generation of great singers and offering performances ranging from classic repertoire to provocative new works, it is building contemporary audiences for opera and advancing the art form to sustain those audiences.

Jump into spring with a little Cosplay Costume and some animated magic. Return to the Publick Playhouse for our third annual Royal Dress-up & Family Movie Day. Dress as your favorite animated prince, princess, or other character and join the fun with our real-life royal guests. Enjoy pictures with a princess, activities for children, and a movie with family, friends, and the community. This year’s feature movie will be The Little Mermaid (2023) starring Halle Bailey. This live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1989 animated film follows the mermaid princess Ariel, who is fascinated with the human world; after saving Prince Eric from a shipwreck, she makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to walk on land. This event is recommended for children ages 3-12. Please note everyone must have a ticket to enter, regardless of age.
