One-Act Play Festival at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, May 3-5

One-Act Play Festival at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, May 3-5

One-Act Play Festival

Location: Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt.

Tuesday, May 3, 2016
Wednesday, May 4, 2016
Thursday, May 5, 2016

At Roosevelt every Spring, we hold our One Act Festival, in which we showcase many different One Acts. Each One Act is about 10 to 15 minutes, and most are student directed (and in some cases, even student written). They are a fun opportunity for students to experiment with the different aspects of putting on a play, and get a closer look at how many things actually go into making a play.

This Year’s One Acts Include:
Death Comes to my Friends” Directed by Mariah Arrington & Pearl Nissen
“Joan the Girl of Arc” Directed by Emma Jett & Maeve Baker
“Time Flies” Directed by Kainoa Sittman
“Driver’s Test” Directed by Megan Conover
“Greater Tuna” Directed by Mr. Mannino
“Family 2.0” Directed by Mr. Mannino
“Captive Audience” Directed by Mr. Mannino
“Cabaret” Directed by Xaria Lambright-Davis

The One Acts will be performed on May 3, 4, & 5 in the Drama Room (004).

Five or six of the eight plays will be performed each night. For the detailed schedule click here.

Don’t miss “The Importance of Being Earnest” on Friday & Saturday March 18th & 19th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 20th at 3:00 pm at the BMHS Fine Arts Theater.

The Importance of Being Earnest is the most famous Comedy of Manners, driven by mistaken identity and witty dialogue. Two British bachelors each assume the name “Ernest” in order to meet the demands of the ladies they love, insisting that they will only marry a man with the confidence-inspiring name of “Ernest.” Chaos erupts as the truth is revealed and all learn the value of being truly earnest. Playwright Oscar Wilde aptly subtitled his play, “A Trivial Comedy for Serious people.”

All Tickets are $10.00 and are available here.
