2for2Boobs: Shades of Pink, Our Voices… Our Stories

Wednesday, September 25th at 6:00 pm

Location: Joe’s Movement Emporium

Join us for a gathering of women’s voices celebrating their faith, strength and their will to survive, overcome and thrive in the face of breast cancer. Women will share their stories through spoken word, poetry, dance and more.

The event starts at 6:00 pm with reception/red carpet and production will start at 7 pm.

There will be a Q&A panel discussion after the presentation featuring Dr. Regina Hampton, President Doctors Community Hospital & Founder Breast Care for Washington, Dr Laray Imani Price, PHD – Psychologist, Cancer Survivorship Care, Women’s Inner Fitness & Wellness Ctr. and a notable genetic testing and nutrition health experts.

Partial funds to benefit the ‘MobileMammo’ program: “D.C. has the highest breast cancer mortality rate in the nation, but a new mobile mammography program seeks to change that.”

The Finger draws its impetus from a vacuum, from a family bereft, and the implacable dynamics between two women. In it, a disappearance calls for-and exacts-rituals in the gap between life and death.

Location: Venus Theatre.

In A Letter to My Ex, the musical, Composer and vocalist Be Steadwell tells stories of love, loss, and intimacy. Following the 2018 release of her album “Queer Love Songs”, Steadwell brings her album to life through theater and performance. A Letter to My Ex is a collage of music, movement, and film, narrating one character’s journey through the ups and downs of love.

The piece is presented through a series of letters to an ex. Each letter coupled with a song. Each moment, a reflection on the process of grieving the loss of love and learning to move on. A letter to my ex explores self-love, addiction, twerking, sex, life, and death through the lens of a heartbroken queer black woman.
