This performance is part of our Tiny Tots Series and is recommended for PreK to Grade 2. Drummer Kofi Dennis brings the vibrant life of a West African village to the Publick Playhouse stage through music, storytelling, and dance. Playing authentic instruments, the Ghanaian native leads lively call-and-response songs and games to get audiences up on their feet in a vibrant exploration of African cultural traditions. Kofi’s infectious enthusiasm is sure to have your little ones walk away with a smile on their face and an appreciation for the power of African drumming. Constructed as a series of interrelated vignettes all taking place in the dining room of a well-to-do household, the play takes an in-depth look at the lives of a vanishing species: the upper-class WASP. The ensemble cast has actors changing roles, personalities, and ages as they portray a slice-of-life view from many different families. The varied scenes dovetail and coalesce into a theatrical experience of exceptional range, compassionate humor, and abundant humanity.

This evening-length multimedia work theatrically explores displacement, longing and the optimism of refugees. Paper Pianos, composed by Mary Kouyoumdjian, combines narratives from four refugees and resettlement workers with intricate hand-drawn animations by artist Kervork Mourad that dramatically depict emotions experienced around the world.

Maryland Ghostlight Company presents Deadline by Don Zolidis, premiering May 10th at the Cafritz Foundation Theatre in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center! A student-led theater club dedicated to straight plays, this will be the company’s fourth production. TDPS students Keegan Perry and Matthew Dietrich directed the play, and stage management is done by Jaylyn Manu, Amelia Du Bois, and Rushi Jain.
