Married couples Karen and Gabe and Beth and Tom have been best friends for years, raising their children, sharing their summers at Martha’s Vineyard and dreaming how they will grow old together. Yet one evening at dinner, with Tom going out of town, Beth breaks down and tells Karen and Gabe that her marriage to Tom is falling apart. Unable to travel due to a storm, Tom finds out that Beth has broken the news without him, contrary to their agreement, and is furious. Tom visits Karen and Gabe and presents his side of the story. Now, each one now begins to wonder whether their lives were just lies, their relationships over, and their dreams only fantasies.

Camp Encore presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Greenbelt Arts Center, July 13-14

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
What fools these mortals be!
By William Shakespeare

Join director Kate Magill Robinson and the Camp Encore troupe leaders on an adventure of magic and mischief, set in the Forest of Athens, where Fools, Fairies and Folly abound! The script will use Shakespeare’s original language, combined with original music, movement, and stage combat. Teen actors will tell the story of two groups of mortals — the mismatched lovers and the hilarious amateur actors (the ‘rude mechanicals’) — who retreat to the forest, only to find it inhabited by a troupe of feuding and mischievous faeries. Will everything be set right before the royal wedding in the morning? Come find out, as we present one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies!

PERFORMANCES: Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 1:00pm and Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 4:00pm and 7:00pm.

Charlotte’s Web

The Children’s Literature Association named this “the best American children’s book of the past two hundred years,” and Joseph Robinette, working with the advice of E.B. White, has created a play that captures this work in a thrilling and utterly practical theatrical presentation. All the enchanting characters are here: Wilbur, the irresistible young pig who desperately wants to avoid the butcher; Fern, a girl who understands what animals say to each other; Templeton, the gluttonous rat who can occasionally be talked into a good deed; the Zuckerman family; the Arables; and, most of all, the extraordinary spider, Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer.” Determined to save Wilbur, Charlotte begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte.

Produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing. Performances run weekends from Friday July 8, 2016 through Sunday July 24, 2016 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission.
