Get ready for another summer of Shakespeare in the Parks! The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Division proudly presents the 2026 Shakespeare in the Parks Tour, bringing a professional, FREE, and family-friendly theatrical experience to parks throughout Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. This beloved annual tradition invites audiences of all ages to enjoy the magic of live performance in the beauty of the outdoors.

This summer’s featured production is As You Like It, one of William Shakespeare’s most delightful comedies. Filled with mistaken identities, witty banter, music, romance, and playful adventure, the story follows Rosalind and her companions as they flee to the Forest of Arden, where love is tested, friendships are forged, and everyone discovers that life can be sweeter when we embrace joy, freedom, and being true to ourselves. Charming, humorous, and full of heart, As You Like It offers a whimsical celebration of love and laughter perfect for the whole family.

Note: For outdoor performances, please bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating and comfort. Picnic meals are encouraged, and this pet-friendly production welcomes your furry companions.

2024 Prince George’s Shakespeare in the Parks presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Description: The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Division will be producing Shakespeare in the Parks for 2024. This summer we are thrilled to present “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, directed by newly appointed Artistic Director Randy Snight. Love is in the air, but it’s tangled in a romantic web involving four young Athenians. Venture into the mystical woods where fairies stir up a potion that turns the lovers’ world upside down. Get ready for an unforgettable experience of whimsy, wonder, and weddings as the enchanting tale of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” comes to life on stage in this 90-minute production. Bring your lawn chair, a picnic, and enjoy the Bard under the stars.

Note: The Publick Playhouse is an indoor venue and therefore seating is limited. Doors will open one hour prior to the performance; seating is first come, first served.

A madcap romp! Shakespeare’s beloved comedy is set on the eve of a royal wedding. Magic potions, warring fairies, and lovers on the run make for one fantastically fun night at the theatre!

Mask policy: The college’s masking mandate has been lifted, however, masks are highly recommended and encouraged while inside our theatres. Worn properly, your mask should cover your nose and mouth. For additional information about our health and safety policies, visit pgcc.edu/arts.

Young Children: For their safety, children under five years of age will not be admitted to the theaters at this time.

Faeries, thespians and runaway loves all find themselves wandering the forest at night. With the fairy king and queen scheming, the lovers escaping, and the ragtag troupe of actors hastily rehearsing a show for the duke’s wedding tomorrow, what more could go wrong? When a fairy named Puck accidentally misapplies a love potion and purposefully transforms an actor into a donkey, it will take more than magic to set things right.

Get lost in the forest with the National Players in the most epic romantic entanglement of all time. A magical comedy that’s fun for children and adults alike.

Feel free to bring your own chair and any snacks you would like. Parking is available up and down the street in front of Joe’s and the residential spaces around the corner.
