Angel Street (better known in the USA as Gaslight) takes place in the late 1880s in an old Victorian house in Pimlico, London. Mr Manningham is slowly trying to drive his wife, Mrs Manningham, insane (her mother died of insanity) by playing demonic tricks on her. Why? Because, very briefly, many years ago a murder took place in the house and the murderer was looking for some precious rubies which have never been found. One evening when Mr. Manningham is out a visitor calls – it is Inspector Rough who during the course of the evening convinces Mrs. Manningham that her husband is a maniacal killer. He enlists the aid of Elizabeth, the Manningham’s housekeeper. The other character is Nancy, a young flirtatious parlor maid who sets her cap on Mr. Manningham.

Auditions November 6 & 7, 2017.

NOTICE: This production contains scenes which simulate intense violence and death, with victims that include women, a young boy, and a dog. Please give due consideration to this before agreeing to participate.

Location: Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse

Performances March 9 – 25, 2018.

Set in nineteenth-century Switzerland, this classic tale of horror and suspense details the ill-fated experiments of young Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to fathom the secrets of life and death. Purchasing cadavers from two unsavory grave robbers, he gives life to a creature both hideous and touching—and so physically powerful and mentally twisted that he soon brings death or destruction to all who stand in his way. Adhering more closely to the original novel than did the famous motion picture versions, the play blends moments of brooding terror and sudden shock with questions of morality and the dangers of unrestrained scientific inquiry.

Actors will be grouped together and will read from sides. No monologue is required, but if you wish to do one, please keep it under two minutes. A headshot and resume are helpful but not required. Everyone’s photo will be taken at the audition. Please come prepared with a list of ALL possible conflicts between 11/13/2017 and 3/7/2018, including Christmas and other holidays. We must schedule rehearsals during a very busy time of year. Actors must be available for all performances. The play runs weekends from March 9 through March 25. Please contact the director at bdsomega@yahoo.com for further questions.

When the creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop assemble for a backer’s audition for a new musical on a suburban estate, things turn deadly with plenty of confusing murders and knotty plots to unravel in John Bishop’s comedic thriller. This ingenious and wildly comic romp spoofs the great murder mystery movies of the 1940s, leaving the audience to wonder, whodunit?

Rehearsals will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays beginning in November, with the exception of the final week of tech, for which all will be called nearly every night of the week. If you have any questions, please email us at 2ndstarbowie@gmail.com.
