Tuesday, July 16, 2019 – 7PM – 9PM

Audition and performance location: Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse

If needed, callbacks will be held at the director’s rehearsal space in Millersville, MD.
Rehearsals will be held in Millersville, MD.

It’s December of 1939. Gone With the Wind is having its world premiere, and Hitler is invading Poland, but Atlanta’s elitist German Jews are much more concerned with who is going to Ballyhoo, the social event of the season. Especially concerned is the Frietag family. The family gets pulled apart and then mended together with plenty of comedy, romance, and revelations along the way. Events take several unexpected turns as the characters face where they come from and are forced to deal with who they really are.

Performances will be October 11 – 27, 2019

Auditions will be cold readings from the script. Please come prepared to use a southern accent (regionally Georgia) for all characters except Joe, who speaks in a New York accent.

Please bring a head shot and resume (if available) and all conflicts you may have between auditions and end of performance schedule.

For any questions regarding auditions, please contact the director, Ilene Chalmers at savageil07@yahoo.com

The causeway’s flooded and (of course) the local sheriff is stranded on the mainland. Naturally on a turbulent night like this, the phones are down and who would ever expect cell phones to work in this remote part of the state? Does it sound like a good night for a roaring fire and a dinner party with a lot of laughs from a boisterous, tipsy actress? Does it sound like a good night for a murder – or two? People are dying and the party really isn’t funny anymore.

General Admission – $22.00, Seniors (62+) & Students – $17.00.
Group Rates(10 or more people): General Admission, Seniors (62+), Students – $15.00.

Gypsy is the ultimate tale of an ambitious stage mother fighting for her daughters’ success… while secretly yearning for her own. Set all across America in the 1920’s, when vaudeville was dying and burlesque was born, Arthur Laurents’ landmark show explores the world of two-bit show business with brass, humor, heart, and sophistication. The celebrated score, by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim, boasts one glorious hit after another, including: “Let Me Entertain You,” “Some People,” “You’ll Never Get Away from Me,” “If Momma Was Married,” “All I Need Is the Girl,” “Everything’s Coming Up Roses,” “You Gotta Get A Gimmick,” “Small World,” and “Together Wherever We Go.”

Tickets for shows at Bowie Playhouse are $22.00 for General Admission, $19.00 for seniors (60 and over) and full time students, and $12 for Children 11 and under. Buy tickets here.
