Synopsis

Henry Luce needs a cover story for Life Magazine, and he’s found it in Tood, Weetsie and Sybill Cliffert. Intrigued by these three young Louisiana housewives, keeping the home fires burning for their husbands – three brothers who are all off at war – he sends Kate Miller to write his prize story. Fresh off assignment in Europe, Kate resents being assigned to a fluff piece about military wives, but she hasn’t landed a cover story yet and ambition is riding her hard. A week with the Clifferts rocks the foundations of Kate’s world and all four women walk away changed – for Life.

Topsy Turvy Tricks and Treats Fundraising Gala!

Get in the spirit of Halloween with a cast of 2nd Star’s veteran performers, as they celebrate the group’s 19th year of performances! Schedule changes at the Playhouse resulting in the loss of one of four productions per season, combined with significant rises in production costs, have necessitated fundraising efforts to support the continuation of this beloved staple of the arts in the Bowie community. Chief among these is the annual 2nd Star Gala at the Bowie Playhouse, and this year they have a real treat for you!

On Sunday October 6th, the group will present an evening of role reversal featuring favorite tunes from 2nd Star shows of the past as you’ve never seen them before! A light buffet of delicious finger foods will be served starting at 6 p.m., the show will commence at 7 p.m., and dessert will be provided during intermission. Tickets will be $40, and only $35 for attendees wearing costumes. The Gala will also conclude a silent auction fundraiser which will begin Friday, September 27th, opening night of the group’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. To purchase tickets for the Gala, please call (410) 757-5700 or (301) 832-4819, or purchase online by clicking the button above.
