Summary: The night after their grandfather’s funeral, three cousins engage in a verbal (and sometimes physical) battle. In one corner is Daphna, a “Real Jew” who is volatile, self assured, and unbending. In the other is her equally stubborn cousin Liam, a secular and entitled young man, who has his shiksa girlfriend, Melody, in tow. Stuck in the middle is Liam’s brother Jonah, who tries to stay out of the fray. When Liam stakes claim to their grandfather’s Chai necklace, a vicious and hilarious brawl over family, faith, and legacy ensues.

Created by Rich Potter.

In the beginning, God said, “Let there be light,” but first! … join His Greatness, moments before The Big Bang! In this hilarious interactive comedy, Rich Potter asks the biggest question of all: if God was around before Creation, what was he doing? Counting the hairs in His beard? Twiddling His cosmic thumbs? Driving around in a golf cart, wishing there was something to do?

This “irreverent romp… whose most impressive miracle is the ability to dissolve an entire audience into laughter…” [DC Metro Theater Arts] aims to amuse open-minded believers and open-minded non-believers alike.

Greenbelt resident, Rich Potter is a producer of Washington DC’s Clown Cabaret. He co-wrote and performed in Shakespearean send up, “ Delusions of Grandeur” (2012) and silent film noir comedy, “The Heist” (2014).

Three years as a RBBB Circus clown, a coach at Center Ring Circus School, dozens of years doing variety/comedy/juggling acts at festivals and corporate settings in dozens of countries, the Vice Presidential Mansion, and an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” have led him here. Now he thinks he’s God.

Ticket prices: $20 General Admission, $16 Students/Seniors/Military, $12 Youth (12 and under with adult). Buy Tickets here.

Hop on your flying carpet, because this musical parody retells the classic tale of Aladdin… from the villain’s point of view! Long ago in a Magic Kingdom, one misunderstood Royal Vizier will go on a quest to save his city from its bumbling sultan, an invading prince, and the most notorious thief to ever live! With the help of the Kingdom’s free-spirited, teenage Princess, the Vizier must find a magical lamp containing a wish-granting Djinn (who’s really funny, by the way) and defeat the city’s most-wanted criminal… Aladdin! This musical adventure celebrates and lovingly pokes fun at everyone’s favorite series of hand-drawn, animated films.

Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door. Advance tickets will be sold at the school during all lunches.

Follow Crow on his journey to the Sky Spirit, as he saves the animals and then travels to the Land of the Light. The show premiered in December 2015 at Greenbelt Elementary School as part of a two-year artists-in-residency, funded by the PTA, the GES Family Art Fund, and a grant from the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC). This free performance at the New Deal Café is Local Beech Tree Puppets To Perform January 24 sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Café Arts with support from the City of Greenbelt. The show, which is suitable for ages 4 to 104, lasts about 45 minutes. For more information, go to http://newdealcafe.com or http://beechtreepuppets.com.
