The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission announces auditions for:
Teen Performance Ensemble
Anansi the Spider

Audition dates: Sunday, February 16, 2025, 3pm

Venue: Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. Prince George’s County Suite at the Clarice.

Join the Teen Performance Ensemble and be part of an exciting new production of Anansi the Spider, a vibrant African folk tale brought to life through music, dance, and drama! This is your chance to perform in a professional tour, develop your acting skills, and get paid for doing what you love. Rehearsals run from April to June, with performances from June 30 to August 8. Pay is $15/hr. Don’t miss this opportunity to shine on stage!

Watkins Nature Center at Watkins Park presents a nature-themed puppet show and a chance to meet an animal.

Appropriate for ages 2 to 3, with an adult.

Each session is two Fridays from 10:00 to 10:45am:

Join us for an interactive lesson with a hands-on activity. Your little one will play, laugh, and dance with their puppet pals while they work on social skills, early literacy development, listening, communication, fine motor skills, attention span, and their creativity!

Enjoy a nature story time! Listen to animal puppets as they read you a story about their family, and then join them and a naturalist as they led you through a nature themed craft! A different show each month!

Are you a rising star ready to shine on stage? Do you have a passion for musical theatre and want to be part of an ensemble? This is YOUR chance to showcase your talent and join an exciting journey of creativity, friendship, and unforgettable performances!

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Since 1996, the Teen Performance Ensemble has provided on-the-job training in musical theater skills to aspiring teen actors. The troupe presents one-act musical plays, directed by theatrical professionals, to children enrolled in M-NCPPC’s Summer Playgrounds and Camps. The Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Arts & Cultural Heritage Division is seeking teens ages 16 and up to audition for the 2024 Teen Performance Ensemble Summer Tour! This is a paid position starting at $15/hr.

Program Schedule:
Rehearsals will be held twice a week (Wednesdays and Fridays, time tba) starting the week of April 15th.
The performance tour will begin June 25, 2024 and end August 9, 2024 (During the tour, the cast work 20-25 hours per week during the summer).
