Are you an aspiring performer? Do you love to act, sing, and dance? Are you ready for an exciting and challenging summer job experience in the arts? Audition for Prince George’s Children’s Theater or Teen Performance Ensemble. Study theater, dance, and vocal music with expert directors, then earn money while performing in an original musical play for participants in M-NCPPC Summer Playgrounds and Summer Camps. The Junior Academy for the Performing Arts
Winter/Spring 2018 Session
Saturdays 9am-1pm, February 3, 2018 to April 29, 2018

The Junior Academy of the Performing Arts (JAPA) introduces musical theater to students who have a talent and curiosity for the performing arts and strengthens their knowledge and skill level through the disciplines of singing, acting and dance.

Students will discover the very best of themselves and be encouraged to share their stories in their own unique way!

Winter/Spring Session
Registration is now open! The program is open to young performers ages 8 to 15. Whether a seasoned performer or new to the stage, all levels are welcome to join our team of rising stars!

12-week intensive program fee: $500 residents/ $650 non-residents

The program starts on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Rehearsals for JAPA are on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm at the Prince George’s County Room, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center (8270 Alumni Dr, College Park, MD 20742)

Performance Dates: Saturday, April 28 & Sunday, April 29, 2018

Debbi Morgan played the role of Angie Baxter-Hubbard on the ABC soap opera, All My Children, for which she was the first African American to win the daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In this one-woman show based on her first book, The Monkey on My Back: A Memoir—Breaking A Generational Curse, Debbi breaks her silence on her family’s struggle with domestic violence. Share in Debbi’s struggles and triumphs in this moving and powerful show and during a book signing immediately following the performance.

M-NCPPC has partnered with Bowie State University to offer community arts classes and performances at Bowie State University’s Fine and Performing Arts Center.
