Shakespeare In the Parks Auditions: As You Like It

Performances May 16 – July 8, 2026

Audition location: Prince George’s Publick Playhouse.

Join the cast! The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Division invites you to audition for Shakespeare in the Parks’ Tour Production of As You Like It in summer 2026. Each year, we present a professional, free, family-friendly production of a Shakespearean play, touring various parks across Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.

Seeking actors ages 18 and older who are comfortable performing outdoors. Actors must be available for rehearsals and performances between May 16 – July 8. Actors will also assist with packing up sets and props after each performance. Understudies may also take on additional responsibilities with stage management or crew roles.

Note: The Publick Playhouse is an indoor venue and therefore seating is limited. Doors will open one hour prior to the performance; seating is first come, first served.

This performance is part of our Tiny Tots Series and is recommended for PreK to Grade 2. Drummer Kofi Dennis brings the vibrant life of a West African village to the Publick Playhouse stage through music, storytelling, and dance. Playing authentic instruments, the Ghanaian native leads lively call-and-response songs and games to get audiences up on their feet in a vibrant exploration of African cultural traditions. Kofi’s infectious enthusiasm is sure to have your little ones walk away with a smile on their face and an appreciation for the power of African drumming. Jump into spring with a little Cosplay Costume and some animated magic. Return to the Publick Playhouse for our third annual Royal Dress-up & Family Movie Day. Dress as your favorite animated prince, princess, or other character and join the fun with our real-life royal guests. Enjoy pictures with a princess, activities for children, and a movie with family, friends, and the community. This year’s feature movie will be The Little Mermaid (2023) starring Halle Bailey. This live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1989 animated film follows the mermaid princess Ariel, who is fascinated with the human world; after saving Prince Eric from a shipwreck, she makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula to walk on land. This event is recommended for children ages 3-12. Please note everyone must have a ticket to enter, regardless of age.
