Annie Oakley is the best shot around, and when she’s discovered by Col. Buffalo Bill he persuades this novel sharpshooter to join his Wild West Show. The stage is set for this classic musical comedy featuring famous Irving Berlin tunes including “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “You Can’t Get a Man with a Gun,” “I Got the Sun in the Morning,” “Anything You Can Do,” and many more!

Tickets for shows at Bowie Playhouse are $22.00 for General Admission, $19.00 for seniors (60 and over) and full time students, and $12 for Children 11 and under. Buy tickets here.

Those who wish to audition may attend EITHER the Monday or Wednesday dates, not both. Keep Thursday night clear in case you are called back. If you are needed for callbacks, you’ll be notified by phone and/or email by 10 AM Thursday morning. Most actors who are cast will NOT be called back Thursday night; it is only to test selected actors against each other before final casting is complete.

We welcome non-traditional casting – all roles are open to all races, genders and ethnic diversities.

To PARENTS of auditioning children: If your child is cast in a role, it is requested that you plan to be involved in the show in as well. Please consider auditioning for a role yourself, or request to join the show’s stage crew. At the very least, we will need parents to “child watch” backstage during performances while other actors are on stage. Also, your children must have a way to quickly get in touch during rehearsals should they end earlier than scheduled.

Regular rehearsals will be held on Tuesday nights, Thursday nights and Saturday mornings/afternoons beginning late February. Not all actors will be required for all rehearsals; and pre-arranged commitments can be honored. You will receive a more exact personal schedule by the end of February.

NO conflicts are permitted after May 20th. Technical rehearsals run each weeknight and each weekend day from May 21st through June 1st. The show runs weekends June 2nd through July 1, 2017, with three or four shows each weekend, including Sunday matinees.

Audition Preparation: If you have one, bring a theatrical resume and a headshot (professional quality not necessary) or a clear recent face picture for the casting team. Bring a written list of any and all remotely possible conflicts that you have or may have between February 20th and May 20th. (No conflicts can be accepted for dates between May 21st and July 1st.)

Prepare a vocal piece, 16-32 bars in length, that shows vocal range and provide sheet music in the correct key. Do not use selections from this show. An accompanist will be provided. If you only wish to be considered for a non-singing or ensemble role, you may perform something short and a cappella. Acting auditions will be cold reading from the script. No advance monologue is required. Come prepared to learn a short dance combination with clothes and shoes you can comfortably and safely move in. Candidates asked to callbacks may be asked sing a selection from the score. It is strongly suggested that you familiarize yourself with the score.
