When Annie’s husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow WI members to pose nude with them for an “alternative” calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women’s charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie’s friendship is put to the test under the strain of their new-found fame.

Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.. Performances run weekends from Friday March 15, 2019 through Sunday April 7, 2019 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission. The rehearsal schedules will be three nights a week for “Cat”, one night for “Wife”, starting March 18th. Once “Cat” opens, “Wife” will rehearse three nights a week. Final schedule will be determined to account for casts’ conflicts.

Cat on A Hot Tin Roof has been often cited as Tennessee Williams’ masterwork. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, it is a drama about the burning conflict and passion that grips a dysfunctional Southern family as it finally confronts and speaks the truth.

The Country Wife is William Wycherly’s 1675 Restoration sex comedy about a rake who convinces society he is impotent, and thus safe in the company of its wives. Given a reset in 1955 New York City, when America Liked Ike… there had to have been a first Mad Man.

Disgraced
by Ayad Akhtar
directed by Bob Kleinberg

March 8 – 30, 2019

Location: Greenbelt Arts Center

Disgraced, by Ayad Akhtar, is the taut drama of Amir Kapoor, an up and coming Muslim American lawyer who has rejected his religious background as overly rigid. Yet, at the insistence of his nephew and Islamic-inspired artist wife Emily, he chooses to attend the trial of an Imam who is charged with financially supporting the Hamas. At a dinner party that includes Amir’s coworker Jory, who is African American, and her husband, Isaac, Emily’s agent, who is Jewish, truths spill out that put Amir’s life in a new perspective. The show presents competing themes of assimilation versus exclusion, religious beliefs versus culture and tolerance versus prejudice.

Ticket prices: $22 General Admission, $20 Students/Seniors/Military, $12 Youth (12 and under with adult). Buy tickets here.
