The program gives teen actors the opportunity to work with professional theater artists and experience the fun of bringing original musical works to life, while building confidence and community. The environment is affirming, the process is fun, and the productions are excellent!

This is an open-enrollment program, so everyone who signs up is cast in the show. Attendance is required at casting rehearsals, dress rehearsals and all performances. Participants also must generally be available for weekend rehearsals starting January 5. Time Will Tell is a time-traveling story about Sally Jones, a present-day Greenbelt teenager who finds herself transported to 1937 Greenbelt, with all her modern ideas about gender equality intact. As she makes new friends and joins the cast of Greenbelt’s first high school musical, the sparks fly — especially between her and Tommy Martin, the handsome and earnest president of the Drama Club. Together, they learn that progress is an idea that advances with the times, but that love is never out of date. This funny, heart-warming show serves up a delectable slice of Greenbelt history, accompanied by the hit songs of the day. Greenbelters and their friends will love this crowd-pleasing musical, presented as a Greenbelt Legacy 80th Anniversary event.

Angel Street (better known in the USA as Gaslight) takes place in the late 1880s in an old Victorian house in Pimlico, London. Mr Manningham is slowly trying to drive his wife, Mrs Manningham, insane (her mother died of insanity) by playing demonic tricks on her. Why? Because, very briefly, many years ago a murder took place in the house and the murderer was looking for some precious rubies which have never been found. One evening when Mr. Manningham is out a visitor calls – it is Inspector Rough who during the course of the evening convinces Mrs. Manningham that her husband is a maniacal killer. He enlists the aid of Elizabeth, the Manningham’s housekeeper. The other character is Nancy, a young flirtatious parlor maid who sets her cap on Mr. Manningham.

Description: Lawrence Jameson makes his lavish living by talking rich ladies out of their money. Freddy Benson more humbly swindles women by waking their compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother’s failing health. After meeting on a train, they attempt to work together, only to find that this small French town isn’t big enough for the two of them. They agree on a settlement; the first one to extract $50,000 from a young female target, heiress Christine Colgate, wins; and the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues that will keep audiences laughing, singing along, and guessing to the very end!

Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start time to sign in and fill out paperwork. No appointment needed. We want dynamic performers from a wide range of ages, ethnicities and talent backgrounds.

Those auditioning should prepare 16-32 measures of a song in a comedic and/or daring fashion. Some actors will also be asked to read from the script and/or complete a short dance section to be taught at auditions.
