Stand Up Comedy Night to benefit the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department

Kaleidoscope Comedy presents a stand-up comedy show to benefit the Bowie Volunteer Fire Departments.

LUCAS BOHN is energetic with an edge. The perfect blend of schoolboy charm and bad-boy charisma, his comedy is both smart and audacious. Known as the little guy who generates big laughs, Lucas has shared the stage with Dave Chapelle, Jimmy Fallon, and Kevin Hart. Lucas’ high-energy shows and hilarious impersonations make him an instant hit with audiences of all ages. In 2013 Lucas was nominated “Comedian of the Year” by Campus Activities Magazine.

Big Al Goodwin is one of the funniest and respected comics on the circuit today. Creative and loveable, Big Al can do any room, anywhere, anytime. A comedy veteran of more than fifteen years, Big Al has worked in almost every area of the country on every level including corporations, large military events, private parties and bar mitzvahs. Big Al connects with his audiences–getting them to appreciate the lighter side of their own lives relating his observations and experiences. Big Al was a winner on America’s Funniest People, he has been interviewed on The Billy Bush Show, and he has been seen in numerous commercials on PBS. It all began when he was 16 years old watching an HBO comedy special featuring David Brenner , he wanted to be a comedian. On a Friday night in November 2006 in Rockville, Maryland, Irwin began to act on that dream. He finally took the stage for the first time. Since then, he has been on stage hundreds of times. He has performed in comedy clubs, bars, and even at his own high school reunion. His comedy revolves around his family, relationships, religion, and society in general. He was raised in a farming community in upstate New York, by a single Jewish mother household. He blames his mother for his bizarre views on parenting, and his overall outlook on life. He brings an energy to the room that makes audiences laugh wherever he performs. His style can be described as a mix of David Brenner and George Carlin, with a touch of Don Rickles.

Description: David McGrachen and John Baker, have planned a weekend off before their new C.E.O. arrives on Monday. With their wives safely off on a shopping spree in New York City, they check into The Oakfield Golf and Country Club intending to “golf their brains out.” They unexpectedly encounter their new boss, and she insists on meeting the wives, commenting blithely “no one who went golfing for a weekend without his wife would ever work for me.” So … David and John have to produce wives. Inevitably everything goes wrong as John and David attempt to “pull the wool” over the new boss’ eyes – literally!

In the small Mississippi town of Brookhaven, a few days before the Fourth of July. Carnelle Scott (known locally as “Miss Hot Tamale”) is rehearsing furiously for the Miss Firecracker Contest—hoping that a victory will salvage her tarnished reputation and allow her to leave town in a blaze of glory. The unexpected arrival of her cousin Elain, a former Miss Firecracker winner, and her eccentric brother, Delmount, leads to a denouement of unparalleled hilarity, compassion and moving lyricism.

Performances run weekends from Friday June 26, 2015 through Sunday July 12, 2015 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission. Description: Two strangers, a man and a woman (late 40’s to middle 50’s) board a San Francisco BART train at 4:30 AM. They’re alone in the car, each is married, both are doing the New York Times crossword. She’s an organized, sensible, psychologist. He’s a free spirited, unemployed ad exec. She is a crossword pro, he always quits. When he tosses his puzzle away, she snaps, “Crosswords are a metaphor for life, those who finish, succeed, those who don’t, fail.” Now he vows to finish. Why? He’s a competitor and she happens to be lovely. This starts an 80 minute ride described by critics as “Hilarious,” “Witty,” “Romantic,” “Poignant,” “Wonderfully entertaining.” Two opposites in an enclosed space, attacking each other’s values but also being swayed and intrigued by them. They each have serious life problems that the other helps them solve. Their trip is filled with unpredictable but believable surprises, even a passionate kissing embrace or two. As the train ride ends it’s obvious each of them has been changed for the better. And we’re all dying to know if these two will meet again?
