Directed by Mickey Lund
Music Direction by Doug Dawson

2nd Star Productions at the Bowie Playhouse

This highly acclaimed musical develops the ancient and distinguished game of chess into a metaphor for romantic rivalries and East-West political intrigue. The principal pawns form a love triangle: the loutish American Grandmaster, the earnest Russian champion, and the Hungarian-American female chess second, who arrives at the international championships with the American but falls for the Russian. From Tyrol to Thailand the players, lovers, politicians, CIA and KGB make their moves to the pulse of this monumental rock score. Several numbers, including “One Night in Bangkok” and “I Know Him So Well”, are international hits.

Tickets for shows at Bowie Playhouse are $22.00 for General Admission, $19.00 for seniors (60 and over) and full time students, and $12 for Children 11 and under. Buy tickets here.

Description:
This timeless story, set more than 2,000 years ago, captures the birth of Christ and brings the town of Bethlehem to life! This free musical extravaganza displays the story of God’s redeeming love, told through comedy, dance and profound songs. Now in its seventh season, The Uncut Coming of Christ has become a favorite holiday family tradition and continues to add new twists each year. Visitors to the FBCG Worship Center are transported through time upon entering the Great Halls, which have been transformed into the Bethlehem marketplace.

Be sure to arrive one hour before the play to experience all the sights, sounds and smells. Have you ever wondered what life was like back then? Ever been curious about what the people wore or what they ate? You’ll find out during the fabulous pre-show production! Shepherds, Roman soldiers and regular townspeople will serve as your guide through the “city streets,” where you’ll see vendors, wares and much more.

In Galilee, a virgin named Mary was engaged to a carpenter named Joseph. An angel visited Mary one night and said she would be impregnated by the Holy Spirit, give birth to a son and name him Jesus. Mary couldn’t believe it, asking the angel, “How can this be?” The angel told her “Nothing is impossible with God.” The Uncut Coming of Christ puts a modern-day twist on these biblical events, bringing the timeless love story to life with vigor and vitality.

You’ll witness the love and respect between Mary and her fiancé, Joseph, who was less than thrilled at first when he learned his bride-to-be was with child. You’ll also see the Holy Spirit’s power and presence in their lives. With an abundance of original scores, The Uncut Coming of Christ takes the audience on a dramatic, fantastical journey through the streets of Bethlehem!

FBCG will be providing shuttles to The Uncut Coming of Christ performances at the Largo Town Center and New Carrollton Metro stations and the Bowie Seniors Center. See: http://fbcglenarden.org/uncut/ for more details.
