‘Twas the Night Before Murder

The mansion of greeting card magnate Norton Pole was lit up like a Christmas tree. And, well it should be on the eve before the annual holiday. The festive occasion was a gathering of a few relatives and business associates, all celebrating another year of record profits (or is it?) for Polar Cards. The assembled group knew everything that could be known about Pole, from the north to south, from east to west. What they didn’t know was that, over dinner, Pole would make announcements that could change their holiday seasons forever. At least, they could’ve had not someone decided to take fate to task and end Pole’s career permanently. For, on Christmas morning, his body was found lying under the huge tree in the great room, a startling contrast to the colorful decorations. But who would do such a thing? After all, Pole’s passion was to produce the perfect paeans to postal patrons who patiently perused each massaged message. Why would someone want to end such a lucid life? Was it Pole’s news that had triggered such a rude response? Or, had someone taken the opportunity to pay back a dubious debt and carry out a vendetta that had been held inside for years? Only stalwart sleuthing and superior skills would uncover a killer and deck the halls with calls of “golly.”

Description:
This timeless story, set more than 2,000 years ago, captures the birth of Christ and brings the town of Bethlehem to life! This free musical extravaganza displays the story of God’s redeeming love, told through comedy, dance and profound songs. Now in its seventh season, The Uncut Coming of Christ has become a favorite holiday family tradition and continues to add new twists each year. Visitors to the FBCG Worship Center are transported through time upon entering the Great Halls, which have been transformed into the Bethlehem marketplace.

Be sure to arrive one hour before the play to experience all the sights, sounds and smells. Have you ever wondered what life was like back then? Ever been curious about what the people wore or what they ate? You’ll find out during the fabulous pre-show production! Shepherds, Roman soldiers and regular townspeople will serve as your guide through the “city streets,” where you’ll see vendors, wares and much more.

In Galilee, a virgin named Mary was engaged to a carpenter named Joseph. An angel visited Mary one night and said she would be impregnated by the Holy Spirit, give birth to a son and name him Jesus. Mary couldn’t believe it, asking the angel, “How can this be?” The angel told her “Nothing is impossible with God.” The Uncut Coming of Christ puts a modern-day twist on these biblical events, bringing the timeless love story to life with vigor and vitality.

You’ll witness the love and respect between Mary and her fiancé, Joseph, who was less than thrilled at first when he learned his bride-to-be was with child. You’ll also see the Holy Spirit’s power and presence in their lives. With an abundance of original scores, The Uncut Coming of Christ takes the audience on a dramatic, fantastical journey through the streets of Bethlehem!

FBCG will be providing shuttles to The Uncut Coming of Christ performances at the Largo Town Center and New Carrollton Metro stations and the Bowie Senior’s Center. See: http://fbcglenarden.org/uncut/ for more details.
