A tale for anyone who has never been destined to save the world, join us as we follow the story of a young wizard named Wayne and the Puffs – a group of well-meaning, loyal rejects with a thing for badgers – in this laugh-out-loud comedy that’s packed with knowing winks to its source material and a heart all its own!

Description: Leadership, courage, and adventure take the stage in this inspiring new play from the Smithsonian highlighting the history and heroism of adventurers and explorers such as Matthew Henson and Barbara Hillary, Artic explorers; Stagecoach Mary of the wild, wild west; Guion Bluford, the first Black astronaut; and Sophia Danenburg, modern mountaineer and first African American to climb Mt. Everest.

Recommended for grades 3 to 5.

Location: Greenbelt Arts Center

Auditions will be held at the Greenbelt Arts Center, located at 123 Centerway, Greenbelt, MD, 20771, on Wednesday February 26 and Thursday the 27th beginning at 6:30 pm. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Audition scenes will be posted in advance on this site to allow actors to be familiar with them, though no memorization is expected.

Rehearsals will be held three weekday evenings a week beginning March 16, leading up to nine performances beginning on May 15 and ending on May 31. Be prepared to detail all conflicts you may have throughout the rehearsal and performance schedule.

Description: This powerful production will introduce audiences to poignant events and notable names of the Civil Rights Movement. This acclaimed show focuses on the tumultuous years between 1955 and 1968 and shines light on important milestone in our history, including: the Montgomery Bus Boycott, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Brown v. Board of Education, the Sit-In Movement, the Freedom Riders, the March on Washington, and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Viewers can expect to meet important figures and hear inspiring songs of the era.

Recommended for grades 3 to 8.
