A moving and celebratory musical play in which hats become a springboard for an exploration of Black history and identity as seen through the eyes of a young Black woman who has come down South to stay with her aunt after her brother is killed in Brooklyn. Hats are everywhere, in exquisite variety, and the characters use the hats to tell tales concerning everything from the etiquette of hats to their historical and contemporary social functioning. There is a hat for every occasion, from flirting to churchgoing to funerals to baptisms, and the tradition of hats is traced back to African rituals and slavery and forward to the New Testament and current fashion. The conclusion finds the standoffish young woman, whose cultural identity as a young black Brooklyn woman has been so at odds with the more traditional and older Southern blacks, embracing hats and their cultural significance as a part of her own fiercely independent identity.

Tickets for shows at Bowie Playhouse are $25.00 for General Admission, $22.00 for seniors (60 and over), military and full time students, and $15 for Children 11 and under. Buy tickets here.

How far would a man go to protect his family, his interests, and his legacy? Joe Keller, the patriarch in All My Sons, desperately wants to secure and maintain the financial security and legacy he spent so many years building, ready to hand it down to his surviving son Chris. At the same time, Joe’s wife Kate is still waiting for their eldest son Larry to return from war, determined that he is alive and will marry the former girl-next-door, Ann –the daughter of Joe’s former business partner who is sitting in prison, punished for Joe’s crimes. To complicate this family drama, Chris and Ann are in love and want to get married. In All My Sons, Arthur Miller creates a post-war American family in a tragic downfall of lies, greed, love, and loss, and demands its audience examine their own social responsibilities to all the sons of American wars.

Kingdom Choices Enterprises presents
Scattered Choices
By LaTonya Bell-Jones

Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 6:30pm

Location: Bowie Center for the Performing Arts.

SCATTERED CHOICES was written to portray some of the good, bad, right, and wrong choices we make throughout our lives that affect our lives and/or the lives of others. Our hope is that you fall in love with the messages, characters, songs, etc. of SCATTERED CHOICES as the characters make modern day choices regarding sex, love, drugs, violence, etc. while attending the Kingdom Choices Retreat Camp (KCRC).

As the characters attend KCRC, they share the SCATTERED CHOICES they have made, will make, and/or are desiring to make with various expressions of comedy, love, anger, prayers, songs, violence, and dances. Most importantly, the characters learn from their booklet, “12 KINGDOM CHOICES to Live Heaven on Earth.” As such, they learn to call and turn the good and right choices they make into KINGDOM CHOICES which are choices that line up with the WORD of GOD.

It is our goal to give everyone who attends the stage play a free copy of our booklet so they too can have an understanding of KINGDOM CHOICES. Prayerfully, attendees will read it and come to an understanding that we desire to encourage or help you “Draw close to GOD as HE draws close to you” (James 4:8) in an intimate or more intimate relationship as a result of seeing our stage play and reading our booklet. To GOD be the glory, Amen!

NOTE: VIP Tickets include: Reserved Seating, Black Room Access with Refreshments (Intermission and After Show), Souvenir Wristband and/or Mug, and Autographed Program of Cast Members.

Tickets: $30 to $50. Click here.
