In response to the growing momentum behind the #MeToo Movement, this BSU Theatre season has been dedicated to the creation of a new, devised performance entitled #MeToo. Through interviews, research and personal narrative, BSU student artists of #MeToo have generated a multidisciplinary workshop performance that shares the intimate challenges and powerful survival of those who have experienced gender-based harassment and abuse.

Please join BSU Theatre as we build a community that gives voice to those who have remained silent. Due to the intimate and immersive nature of this production, audience sizes are limited to 14 participants only.

The Chesapeake Chorale presents “Side by Side with Sondheim”

Saturday, March 16th at 7:30 pm & Sunday, March 17th at 3 pm

Location: Christian Community Presbyterian Church 3120 Belair Drive, Bowie MD 20715.

Description:
The Chorale presents an evening of music by one of the masters of American musical theater. Stephen Sondheim began his career as a protégé of Oscar Hammerstein II and as a lyricist for Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story, Candide), but soon struck out on his own with a breathtaking series of Broadway shows: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Follies, Company, A Little Night Music, Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, and Sunday in the Park with George. Join us for an enchanting evening of music from this true American genius, with featured selections from his musicals by the Chorale and in solos by members of the Chorale. But you better get your tickets early, because “Another Hundred People Just Got Off of the Train”! And as you head into the performance, keep a look out for beans…“They May Be Magic.”

Online advance ticket sales will be available for pick up at will call on the selected performance date(s). The purchaser’s photo ID or PayPal receipt will be needed to pick up tickets. (Online sale tickets are not mailed.)

The Women of Lockerbie by the Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse, Mar 1-17

The Women of Lockerbie by the Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse, Mar 1-17

The Women of Lockerbie
by Deborah Brevoort
Directed by: Estelle Miller
Produced by: Andy Negri

March 1 – 17, 2019

Location: Bowie Community Theatre at the Bowie Playhouse

The Women of Lockerbie takes place seven years after the 1988 disaster in which an American airliner was destroyed over Lockerbie, Scotland, apparently by a terrorist bomb. The Livingstons have come to Lockerbie for a memorial service that is being held for the families of the victims. They meet the women of Lockerbie who are determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love by washing and returning the clothes to the victims’ families. The Women of Lockerbie is a powerful and moving poetic drama—an affirmation about how the human spirit triumphs over evil.

General Admission – $22.00, Seniors (62+) & Students – $17.00.
Group Rates(10 or more people): General Admission, Seniors (62+), Students – $15.00.
