Time Will Tell is a time-traveling story about Sally Jones, a present-day Greenbelt teenager who finds herself transported to 1937 Greenbelt, with all her modern ideas about gender equality intact. As she makes new friends and joins the cast of Greenbelt’s first high school musical, the sparks fly — especially between her and Tommy Martin, the handsome and earnest president of the Drama Club. Together, they learn that progress is an idea that advances with the times, but that love is never out of date. This funny, heart-warming show serves up a delectable slice of Greenbelt history, accompanied by the hit songs of the day. Greenbelters and their friends will love this crowd-pleasing musical, presented as a Greenbelt Legacy 80th Anniversary event.

The annual Greenbelt Youth Musical, now in its eighteenth year, is an open-enrollment musical theater program for teen actors in grades seven through twelve. The program gives teen actors the opportunity to work with professional theater artists and experience the fun of bringing original musical works to life, while building confidence and community. The environment is affirming, the process is fun, and the productions are excellent!

This is an open-enrollment program, so everyone who signs up is cast in the show. Attendance is required at casting rehearsals, dress rehearsals and all performances. Participants also must generally be available for weekend rehearsals starting January 5. In a world where dragons and gnomes are real, can three high-school kids break a spell of ignorance and rescue Sophia, the Underworld’s rightful queen?

Come be a part of the 17th Greenbelt Youth Musical! Teen performers will present a new version of Buried Treasure, an original musical written and directed by Chris Cherry.
