A lively collection of of one-act plays performed by young adults in our community.
Prodigal Cow- by Mark Harvey Levine – A very familiar story told from a slightly more bovine point of view.
Misfortune – by Mark Harvey Levine – A dinner date “predictably” ends in murder.
Big Picture – by Mark Harvey Levine – A look into the life of a box of crayons
Ruin – by Ann Marley – Two sisters, with something in their past, struggle to communicate.
Higher Education – by Ann Marley – Take a tour of the cracks in the foundation of the higher education system of America.
Monsters In The Closet – by Jeanette Brown – A young girl must learn to face her fears.
Dear Diary – by Kendra Simmons – A teenager struggles with bullying and her self image.

Performances run weekends from Friday March 27, 2015 through Sunday April 12, 2015 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission. Auditions for Taratibu Youth Association at Joe’s Movement Emporium, Mar 21

Taratibu Youth Association is a young people’s performing arts company that focuses on African and African American culture. We use traditional and contemporary songs, dance and movement to teach principles of community building, self-determination, and spirituality.

Taratibu Youth Association holds auditions twice a year in the spring and fall.

The next auditions are being held March 21, 2015, 12:00 – 4:00pm.

Ideally auditioning youth should be strong vocalists and experienced in dance, however, no previous experience is necessary. Youth interested in auditioning should be between 11-18 years old.

What to bring: artistic resume listing any training and performance experiences

Youth auditions should include three well-rehearsed performance pieces:
Dance or step
Song
Poem or monologue

Youth should be prepared to present each piece as a solo dressed to dance and/or move with athletic shoes.

Come see their new whimsical show that combines reggae-inspired tunes with two hilarious fish puppet friends at Bowie Center for the Performing Arts on January 17, 2015 at 11AM. Admission: Canned food donation or $5.00 per family. All proceeds will go to the Bowie Interfaith Pantry and Emergency Aid Fund. Beech Tree Puppets perform “The Hollow Stump”, based on the folk tale, The Mitten, retold and adapted for table-top rod-puppets. Various animals, sometimes at odds with each other in nature, find community as they seek shelter from an unexpected snow in early spring. Founders Ingrid Cowan Hass and Ole Hass guide the animal puppets as they sing and narrate. (all ages)

World Premiere.

This is a free performance sponsored by the Friends of New Deal Cafe Arts, with support from the City of Greenbelt. (2 to 4pm)
