Presented under the direction of Lisa Nathans, associate professor of voice and acting within the UMD School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, this production brings the world of Austen to joyous, irreverent life. A man whose loyalty to his friend has given him a secret he’s kept for decades. What happens when the paths of these characters intersect is the subject of Waldy Street – where secrets unfold!

Come meet women from the past, some famous (like Harriet Tubman or Sojourner Truth), others not so much, but all important because they lived. Each weekend is a new chapter. Come for one, two or all three, you’ll see something different each chapter. So take a journey and find out that history doesn’t have to be a mystery.

Orgullo is a mythical exploration of 7 legends surrounding the rise and fall of infamous Mexican President Santa Anna and his wild gum popping adventures defending against American “Manifest Destiny” and their seafaring, dessert raiding, lava walking imperialist forces at the height of the 1846-1848 invasion of Mexico. A part of the award winning 7 Deadly Sins Cycle.

The Maryland Opera Studio is dedicated to the future of opera. Preparing the next generation of great singers and offering performances ranging from classic repertoire to provocative new works, it is building contemporary audiences for opera and advancing the art form to sustain those audiences.
