NYC’s The Acting Company presents
Julius Caesar
by William Shakespeare

Friday, March 10, 2017 7:30pm

Tackling essential questions about the balance of ambition, personal loyalty, and love of country, Shakespeare’s timeless political masterpiece has never been more relevant. Through the story of Julius Caesar, a rising political star torn down by his most trusted allies, audiences witness the art of persuasion, the ugliness of backroom politics, and the historical patterns we can’t stop repeating. This play is brought to you by visiting production, NYC’s The Acting Company.

In this poetic and visceral song cycle, Shakespeare’s darkly tragic King Lear is distilled to its musical essence. Movement, words and choral songs performed in Latin, Polish and English render the iconic story of a man who loses everything that defines him. In 12 compelling episodes that each conveys a crucial scene from the play, this musical exploration of the text elevates melody to become the embodiment of character, relationships and drama. Songs of Lear, created and performed by the multi-award-winning Polish theater company Song of the Goat Theatre, took top honors in the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Henry IV is dead. An untested Prince Hal sits on the throne, having forsaken the taverns and raucous days of his youth. England, still reeling from years of rebellion and civil strife, has fallen into an uneasy peace. Determined to unite his troubled realm against a common enemy, the young Henry V musters his armies and sets forth across the water to conquer France for the crown. But as the English army burns its way through the French countryside, and the personal cost of battle becomes more and more dire, Henry must wrestle with the havoc he has caused and what it really means to be a king.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
What fools these mortals be!
By William Shakespeare

Join director Kate Magill Robinson and the Camp Encore troupe leaders on an adventure of magic and mischief, set in the Forest of Athens, where Fools, Fairies and Folly abound! The script will use Shakespeare’s original language, combined with original music, movement, and stage combat. Teen actors will tell the story of two groups of mortals — the mismatched lovers and the hilarious amateur actors (the ‘rude mechanicals’) — who retreat to the forest, only to find it inhabited by a troupe of feuding and mischievous faeries. Will everything be set right before the royal wedding in the morning? Come find out, as we present one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies!

PERFORMANCES: Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 1:00pm and Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
