Shakespeare in the Parks provides opportunities for county-based designers, actors, and musicians to share their creativity and expertise with county residents of all ages. All acting positions are paid. Performances of our next production (Macbeth) are scheduled July 5-20, 2020 in open-air locations throughout Prince George’s County. Auditioning actors must be 18 years or older and should present a monologue from one of Shakespeare’s plays. Actors need not be county residents to audition. Auditions are by appointment only. The Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division Presents the Prince George’s Summer Shakespeare Festival.

Much Ado About Nothing – Prince George’s Shakespeare in the Parks
Vicious Rumors. Reluctant Rivals. And The Triumphant Power of Love.

A fun-filled comedy, featuring Beatrice and Benedick, the witty rivals whose secret love for each other is revealed when they come to the rescue of Claudio and Hero, whose wedding has been sabotaged by the nefarious Don John. Set on the picturesque island of Sicily, this traveling production will feature live musicians playing a blend of traditional Italian music as well as original numbers composed from Shakespeare’s text.
