We invite you to audition for Prince George’s Shakespeare in the Parks, returning with an action-packed production of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy Macbeth. Inspired by the novel-turned-movie Gangs of New York, this 1860’s interpretation will feature intricate stage combat by some of the region’s best fight directors. Selected actors will be hired as seasonal employees by the Department of Parks and Recreation, starting at $15/hr. This allows actors to be paid for rehearsal, performance, and strike time. We are requiring all actors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination will be required to be hired for this production and all county mandates will be strictly enforced throughout the rehearsal and touring process. First rehearsal will be on Monday June 4, 2022 at The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park MD. Rehearsals are held Monday- Friday 7:00-10:30 and Saturday 10:00 am-3:00 pm. First preview performance will be July 8th, tour extends through July 24th.

Prepare and present a 60-90 second monologue by Shakespeare or one of his contemporaries in verse. If you are proficient at playing an instrument, share that with us as well. Our music director has requested you play a piece of folk music ideally with a celtic feel. Please also state what instruments you play as well as your proficiency level.

Only online applications will be accepted for this opportunity.
Deadline for submissions is Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 11:59 pm. . In-person callbacks will be Monday, February 7, at The Bowie Center for Performing Arts.

Faeries, thespians and runaway loves all find themselves wandering the forest at night. With the fairy king and queen scheming, the lovers escaping, and the ragtag troupe of actors hastily rehearsing a show for the duke’s wedding tomorrow, what more could go wrong? When a fairy named Puck accidentally misapplies a love potion and purposefully transforms an actor into a donkey, it will take more than magic to set things right.

Get lost in the forest with the National Players in the most epic romantic entanglement of all time. A magical comedy that’s fun for children and adults alike.

Feel free to bring your own chair and any snacks you would like. Parking is available up and down the street in front of Joe’s and the residential spaces around the corner.
