NYC’s The Acting Company presents
Julius Caesar
by William Shakespeare

Friday, March 10, 2017 7:30pm

Tackling essential questions about the balance of ambition, personal loyalty, and love of country, Shakespeare’s timeless political masterpiece has never been more relevant. Through the story of Julius Caesar, a rising political star torn down by his most trusted allies, audiences witness the art of persuasion, the ugliness of backroom politics, and the historical patterns we can’t stop repeating. This play is brought to you by visiting production, NYC’s The Acting Company.

Parental Advisory: Recommended for high school students and above.

Winner of both Tony and Drama Desk awards, this musical features an eclectic ensemble of tween characters who vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and heartfelt angst, these adolescents spell their way through a series of esoteric words in a quest to avoid the soul-crushing, pout-inducing “ding” of the bell which signals a mistake and necessitates a quick exit from the competition. With it’s fast-paced and wildly funny, yet poignant, script and a truly fresh score, this bee is a riotous ride complete with audience participation.

Gilbert and Sullivan are the undisputed masters of comic operetta and the proud parents of the modern musical. That their works are more in demand today than when they were created over a century ago is ample proof of their lasting brilliance. H. M. S. PINAFORE answers the burning question of who, among equals, is the most equal, but only when the men of the mismatched couples discover they were switched in their cradles as infants.

Produced by special arrangement with R&H. Performances run weekends from Friday April 28, 2017 through Sunday May 21, 2017 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m.
